About the role
The Bakery Dept. Assistant Manager supports the overall success of the Bakery department at Plum Market by assisting with daily operations, team leadership, and exceptional retail Customer Service.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Bakery Manager in ordering, inventory control, and production scheduling to ensure consistent product availability.
- Maintains pricing accuracy, signage standards, and store cleanliness across all bakery service areas.
- Collaborates with leadership and peers to execute promotions, seasonal resets, and department goals.
- Fosters a safe and sanitary working environment by following food safety guidelines and Plum Market policies.
- Assists with training, task delegation, and performance feedback to Team Members.
- Step in to lead the department in the Manager's absence, ensuring operational continuity and a strong service culture.
- Delivers an outstanding Customer experience by leading with hospitality, efficiency, and a positive attitude.
- Participates in team communication, meetings, and development efforts to enhance performance and morale.

Qualifications
- Experience in bakery operations or related food service departments.
- Ability to manage and maintain documentation such as order guides, logs, and SOPs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle day-to-day challenges with professionalism.
- Comfort working a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Apps and the ability to adapt and learn new software solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts up to 100 lbs.
