Responsibilities
- Follows recipes to prepare cakes, donuts, cookies, and other products according to customer orders or as needed for display.
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, shaping, and scoring them.
- Operates commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough proofers.
- Completes production lists, fills out special order requests, and packages and labels products.
- Maintains attractive product presentation by filling bakery trays, display cases, and ingredient bins, and rotating product to ensure freshness while adhering to food safety standards.
- Greets customers, answers questions, responds to complaints, and assists in locating and selecting products.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to company safety procedures.
- Promotes product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.
- Attends to potential hazards by remedying or placing warning signs and reporting unresolved hazards to a supervisor.
Requirements
- Basic mathematical skills for following recipes.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age required.
- Must be 21 years or older to drive for company business.
- Food handler certification required.
- Six months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.

- Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception, or the ability to focus.
- Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching, or handling.
- Continuously required to use fine finger movements or strenuous finger and hand movements.
- Continuously required to stand or walk.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
- Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, or squat.
- Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 75 lbs.
- Regular attendance at work is required.
Work Environment
- Work is generally performed in a retail store.
- Frequently exposed to hot surfaces, extreme cold, and extreme heat (non-weather).
- Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery, or damp conditions and cleaning agents.
- Quiet to moderate noise level.
