Baker - Full Time, Seasonal

About the role

The Pastry Cook is responsible for pastry and baking production, following the directive of the Pastry Chef, for all hotel outlets. The baker is responsible for the quality and timeliness of the product and for the cleanliness and organization of the pastry shop.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by the outlets
• Plan and organize production, purchasing and scheduling
• Control food and labor costs
• Produce the highest quality standards for bakery and pastry
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all pastry cooking and decorating techniques and skills: possess thorough knowledge of methods of preparation of classical and modern desserts, breads and pastries
• Work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines and demands of business
• Check staffing, uniforms, daily production sheets, etc.
• Check production for all meal periods to ensure consistency
• Attend department meetings
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned
• The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

Requirements

• 3 years experience in pastry kitchen of a luxury hotel
• Culinary degree or relevant experience

Physical demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear
• The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel materials, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
• Employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs

Skills

• Good verbal communication skills
• Computer skills – none required

Work environment

The work environment is varied. Work is performed in both guest contact and non guest contact areas. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$26.50 to $28.50 base pay. Offered pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and specific experience or overall experience.
