Responsibilities
- Prepares baked goods according to recipes and production specifications.
- Bakes breads, pies, cakes, cookies, other pastries, and baked goods as necessary per provided production and catering sheets.
- Assists in production planning to meet daily requirements.
- Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards, and using proper equipment.
- Assists with the completion of production records, including waste tracking, used and unused portions, and product shortages.
- Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
- Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, and utensils within the work area.
- Exhibits the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Checks that all food is presented, served, and displayed per standards.
- Completes shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards.
- Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Adheres to DCH Behavioral Standards, including creating positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, colleagues, and self.
- Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
- Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors, and employees.
- Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Uses electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet.
- Adheres to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or 1-3 years of experience in a large volume or commercial bakery; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
- Moving mechanical parts
- Toxic or caustic chemicals
- Extreme heat
- Fumes or airborne particles
- Vibration
The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
- Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Physical presence onsite is essential.
