About the Role

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and designated Leads, this position operates a machine that takes in paper, folds it, and glues it to produce bags of various sizes, shapes, and grades. The first three months of employment will consist primarily of On-the-Job Training (OJT). During this period, employees will train under experienced Operators, Adjusters, and Supervisors to develop proficiency in machine setup, operation, quality standards, safety procedures, and the production process before working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and support equipment to convert paper into bags
  • Read and verify order sheets
  • Perform quality checks on finished products
  • Complete daily production paperwork
  • Safely strip rolls down, removing liner and/or bands
  • Coordinate with the Lead Adjuster to make necessary repairs and machine adjustments to ensure quality levels
  • Watch the progress of machinery for breakage; notify the Adjuster as needed
  • Clean ink pans and wash rollers
  • Learn to thread machinery and perform properly
  • Meet/achieve safety, quality, production, waste, and housekeeping goals set forth by management
  • Continuously safely perform all required tasks, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures
  • Take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards
  • Utilize lockout/tagout as required, following established policy; ensure machine guarding is always in place
  • Keep the work area clean and organized by 6S standards
  • Ensure that work is being performed to produce quality products according to our quality requirements and specifications
  • Comply with established plant rules and procedures that promote compliance with customer service-related activities, including:
    • Following run-order specifications for each product
    • Following pre-requisite programs in compliance with SQF Code, Manufacture of Food Packaging, and food safety requirements
    • Following all Good Manufacturing Practices in compliance with all Food Safety Requirements
  • Actively engage in value-added activities that enhance our products and processes
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly production meetings and safety training
  • Follow all PPE policies
  • Train new and less experienced team members to operate their machines (Intermediate level or above)
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, and Shift Leads

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in manufacturing or production
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Must complete Safety Orientation and monthly training

Pay

Starting pay rate of $19.48/hour with a $0.50/hour shift differential.

Schedule

2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday
