Backup Mascot Performer

Key Responsibilities

• Perform as the Des Moines Buccaneers mascot at designated home games, community events, school visits, and sponsor or partner activations.
• Maintain the established character identity, movement style, energy level, and performance approach to ensure brand consistency.
• Interact with fans of all ages in a friendly, safe, and engaging manner.
• Participate in on-ice promotions, media opportunities, and photo moments.
• Oversee proper care, handling, cleaning, and storage of costume pieces and accessories after each use.
• Provide support for a majority of the non-game appearances during off-season or community initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Prior Mascot experience preferred
• Comfortable performing in full costume, including in warm weather, for extended periods.
• Able to express personality and emotion non-verbally; as Winger does not speak.
• Dependable, punctual, professional, and comfortable engaging with the public.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to ~20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Weekend, evening, and holiday availability required, based on game and event schedule.
• Located within the Des Moines Metro area
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation anywhere in the Des Moines Metro area required for off-site events
