BACKLINE CREW MEMBER (ROANOKE, VA)

About the role

Starr Hill Brewery is seeking a Backline Crew Member to support both their Back of House and Front of House operations. This role focuses on preparing and cooking a streamlined, high-quality menu with speed and consistency, ensuring all food is plated and presented to brand standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a streamlined, high-quality menu with speed and consistency
• Ensuring all food is plated and presented to brand standards
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of all kitchen and food prep areas, and supporting in cleanliness of service areas
• Delivering food to customers in a timely manner
• Following food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with SERV Safe and VDACS
• Participating in daily kitchen setup, prep, and breakdown
• Assisting in refining processes as the food program grows and evolves
• Communicating clearly with front-of-house staff to ensure timely order delivery
• Being adaptable to changing menus, service styles, and team needs
• Serving as an ambassador for Starr Hill Brewery

Requirements

• ServSafe Certification strongly preferred
• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen strongly preferred
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
• Able to take direction, multitask, and stay organized under pressure
• Passion for great food and customer service
• Willingness to collaborate and help improve processes as the kitchen grows
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Available for functions as they arise to ensure that the food is prepared and served as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for part-time positions)
