Job Responsibilities
- Utilize dynamic routing program to efficiently route outbound product.
- Respond promptly to driver inquiries regarding, but not limited to, breakdowns, directions, product count discrepancies.
- Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations.
- Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate breakdowns, late trucks and other changes.
- Timely and regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors in a way that positively affects productivity and morale.
- Generating Revenue via Backhauls:
- Dispatching Trucks
- Must work in a safe and effective manner
- Incidents must be reported promptly to direct supervisor.
- Contact customers and vendors regarding appointments, times changes and updates.
- Maintain dispatch and backhaul files.
- Maintain current phones numbers in TMW file maintenance.
Experience and Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred.
- Dispatch experience
- Backhaul experience
- Basic transportation knowledge
- Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors to the point that productivity and morale are positively affected.
- Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work in a fast paced, change-oriented environment.
- Proficient in computer usage to include email, word processing, spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of computer software and applications.
- Able to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- Able to utilize equipment for the job (such as computers, cell phone, copiers, scanners, printers, etc).
- Able to relocate.
- Able to travel (minimal, less than 10%).
Environmental Job Conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to sit on an almost continual basis and stand, walk, bend, or squat on an occasional basis in a normal office environment.
- Occasional need to go in the freezer and withstand freezer conditions.
- Must be able to withstand loud noise.
- Frequent to continual usage of keyboard and monitor.
