Background Screening Specialist, Public Records
About the role
The Background Screening Specialist, Public Records is responsible for processing public record searches, entering customer orders, researching criminal records and nationwide database hits, delivering completed reports, and maintaining an in-depth working knowledge of all searches and client guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Process Public Record searches including State Criminal Records, County Criminal Records, Federal Criminal Records, MVRs, Credit Reports, Business Credit Reports, Nationwide Database, SSN Traces, Homeland Security Reports, Worker’s Comp Records and Bankruptcy Results
- Enter customer orders as needed
- Research Criminal Record and Nationwide Database hits
- Deliver completed reports
- Ensure accurate and prompt turnaround on all search results
- Provide and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of all searches and client guidelines
- Input thorough and accurate notes when determining the adjudication result on an applicant
- Meet personal and team qualitative and quantitative production targets
- Track, route, and redirect information to the correct resources
- Criminal research, understanding dispositions verbiage, and reporting guidelines
- Understanding employment background screening compliance
- Perform all tasks within the regulations and compliance standards of our accreditation
Requirements
3+ months of related experience in verifications, criminal research, customer support, or a customer-facing role. A two-year degree from a college or technical school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Intermediate level of skill in Office 365 - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Demonstrated ability to learn and understand basic office software applications. Excellent verbal and written communication, organization and follow-up skills. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work both individually and as a member of a team. Ability to work effectively and accurately within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
