Role Overview

Backend Java Developer with Python, focusing on backend development, production support, and code enhancement for a long‑term engagement.

Location

Mclean, VA – onsite, 5 days a week (local candidates only).

Duration

Long‑term.

Responsibilities

• Develop new backend features (≈30% of time).
• Enhance existing codebases (≈20%).
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues (30‑40%).
• Perform miscellaneous tasks related to backend support.
• Investigate, fix, and enhance code when production issues arise.
• Assist with migration from JDK 8 to JDK 21.
• Utilize existing CI/CD pipelines and assist with pipeline‑related troubleshooting.
• Set up and manage Jenkins jobs and pipelines (intermediate experience required).
• Work with Gen AI tools such as Kiro and Amazon Queue (plus, not mandatory).

Requirements

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java backend development (Core Java).
• Familiarity with Python or shell scripting (Python experience is a plus).
• Experience troubleshooting and enhancing Java code.
• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines.
• Intermediate experience with Jenkins (job creation, pipeline management).
• Exposure to DevOps practices.
• Experience with on‑prem environments; cloud involvement is not required at this time.
• Knowledge of AWS is a nice‑to‑have.
