Position Description
Employees in this role develop and maintain the back-end/server-side components of applications, including APIs, databases, and services that contain critical business logic. They leverage modern programming languages, frameworks, and cloud technologies to build scalable, secure, and reliable solutions deployed either on-premises or in cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to understand business requirements, use cases, and technical needs.
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable backend solutions using modern tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Align development efforts with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
- Build and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices using server-side languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
- Design and implement REST and gRPC APIs while ensuring versioning, backward compatibility, and proper documentation.
- Collaborate closely with front-end developers, product owners, architects, designers, and cross-functional teams.
- Deploy, manage, and support applications in cloud and on-premise environments, including monitoring, performance optimization, disaster recovery, and security hardening.
- Manage data storage and retrieval using relational and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, and cloud-native database solutions.
- Promote and implement modern software engineering practices, including test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery (CD).
- Optimize backend infrastructure and deployment processes to improve system resiliency, reliability, and scalability.
- Support and implement security best practices, including encryption, anonymization, and data protection strategies.
- Contribute to observability initiatives through logging, tracing, monitoring, and performance instrumentation.

Required Experience
What You Will Bring
- 2+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering with a focus on cloud-native services running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable cloud platforms.
- Strong programming experience in Python, Java, and C++.
- Experience designing and implementing REST and gRPC APIs, including API versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation standards.
- Hands-on experience with GCP services including: Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Build, Cloud Logging.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems; familiarity with Kafka is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline design and implementation within GitHub-based development environments.
- Experience implementing observability solutions using OpenTelemetry or similar frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to develop clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code in a collaborative Agile environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Experience
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating with LLM inference APIs or AI-driven backend services.
- Familiarity with automotive data formats and telematics data structures.
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer Certification.
- Knowledge of OpenAPI specifications and API gateway implementations on GCP.
- Experience supporting observability and monitoring platforms utilizing Kafka-based architectures.
Education Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Technical Certification
Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer Certification

- Hybrid Schedule: 4 days per week onsite.
- Automotive industry and telematics experience preferred but not required.
- Contract Length: 12+ Months
