Backend Engineer (Distributed Systems) : Full-time

About the role

The Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Maintain and optimize existing production systems at scale
• Work closely with product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Ensure system reliability and availability through rigorous testing and monitoring
• Collaborate with other engineers on cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and scalability

Requirements

• 3–10 years of backend/distributed systems experience, preferably 5–8 years
• Experience shipping and maintaining production systems at scale
• Strong background in concurrency, race conditions, and asynchronous patterns
• Proficiency in Python, with experience in Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP, and Terraform
• Experience in big tech or VC-backed startups
• Multiple years of experience handling complex distributed systems

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with marketplace, auction, billing, or exchange systems
• Full-stack capabilities with a strong backend focus
