HybridEngineering$66/hrFull-time
About the role
Tavus is a $66M Series B AI company backed by Sequoia, CRV, Scale, and YC, building real-time video avatars that allow users to clone themselves and speak any language at scale.
What You Will Do
- Own the end-to-end revenue plumbing for Tavus's AI platform, managing usage-based billing across Stripe, Orb, and Apple IAP.
- Architect and lead the transition to "Pricing V2," implementing usage-metering pipelines, concurrency holds, and automated provisioning for enterprise clients.
- Build robust infrastructure for coupon and credit lifecycles, enabling the growth team to launch self-serve promotions without direct engineering intervention.
- Ensure financial correctness across parallel payment providers (Orb, Stripe, Apple IAP) by developing idempotent webhook processing and reconciliation pipelines to prevent revenue loss.
- Scale distributed systems to ensure event durability and idempotency as the company expands globally into new markets.
Why this role is remarkable
- Own the mission-critical revenue domain at a fast-growing, ~40-person startup where AI is the core product, not just a marketing hook.
- Join a well-funded Series B company backed by top-tier investors like Sequoia and CRV, offering the stability of capital with the impact of an early team.
- Solve complex distributed-systems challenges where "close enough" isn't an option, moving from manual workarounds to sophisticated, automated billing infrastructure at scale.
Requirements
- Proven experience building or owning usage-based billing systems, ideally with deep expertise in Stripe and exposure to Orb or Apple IAP.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS for backend services, with the ability to manage AWS data plumbing including Lambda, DynamoDB, and CDK.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems principles, including event durability, reconciliation, and exactly-once processing, specifically within a payments or fintech context.
