Backend DevOps Engineer

About the role

A leading medical technology company is seeking a Senior DevOps / Embedded Software Engineer for a contract opportunity in Danvers, MA. This is a 3-day onsite role supporting CI/CD, embedded software, infrastructure, and enterprise platform migration using GitLab, Jenkins, C, Python, Bash, and Linux/QNX. The position offers a great opportunity to work closely with software engineers on a major technology migration within a medical device environment. The ideal candidate is a strong hands‑on engineer who can understand code, maintain pipelines, troubleshoot infrastructure, and hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

• Tech Breakdown: 40% CI/CD & DevOps, 25% C/Python/Bash, 20% Infrastructure & Cloud, 15% Platform Migration
• Daily Responsibilities: 50% Hands‑On Engineering, 30% Team Collaboration, 20% Troubleshooting & Process Improvement

Requirements

• 6+ years of DevOps / Software Engineering experience
• Strong C programming experience; working knowledge of Python and Bash
• Hands‑on CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance
• Experience with GitLab and Jenkins
• Strong Linux, QNX, or Unix‑like operating system experience
• Infrastructure and cloud services experience
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and communication skills

Qualifications

• Medical device industry experience
• Enterprise platform or infrastructure migration experience
• Embedded software development experience
• Experience with Jira and JAMA
• Experience integrating platforms, services, and development environments

Schedule

• Location: Danvers, MA
• Onsite: 3 days per week
• Contract duration: 6–12 months with possible extensions
