Backend Developer - HIT
About the role
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, troubleshoot and debug issues, and mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Abide by all obligations under HIPAA related to Protected Health Information (PHI). Report any HIPAA violations to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources and complete all required HIPAA training offered by the company.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback via Pull Requests (PRs).
- Implement backend functionalities and business logic to support business processes.
- Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Abide by all HIPAA obligations related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Report any HIPAA violations to the Compliance Officer and/or Human Resources.
- Attend, complete, and demonstrate competency in all required HIPAA training.
Requirements
- Six years of development experience.
- Direct experience in the healthcare or finance fields, especially in the management of self-funded medical benefit plans or healthcare provider connectivity.
- Working knowledge of MediSpan drug data.
Skills
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating front-end with back-end services.
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools (e.g., Webpack, Babel, npm).
- Strong understanding of version control systems, specifically Git.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and managing PRs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Visual Studio, C#, .NET Core, and Entity Framework.
- SQL Server stored procedures, functions, and general administration.
- Microsoft Teams and flow charts such as Lucid Charts.
- Ability to work with external APIs for internal business processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems in unknown situations and provide effective feedback.
- Ability to work independently and make logical business decisions given general guidance.
- Ability to consolidate ideas and collaborate with cross-functional working groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Working knowledge of prescription claim electronic data interchange and the overall reimbursement cycle for pharmacies.
- Experience with MongoDB and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management, especially around adjudication, formularies, and pricing.
Pay
$70 - 81 per hour.
Schedule
8am to 4pm.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
