Backend Developer
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer to join our dynamic team at GrabJobs. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our core payment processing platform, which handles high-volume card transactions securely and reliably. Your expertise will help ensure the seamless operation of our payment systems, supporting our mission to deliver a smooth and trustworthy experience for our users.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in backend development, with proficiency in PHP and Golang within production environments.
- Practical experience with card payment processing, including integrations with payment service providers (PSPs) such as Adyen, Checkout.com, JP Morgan Chase, and others.
- A solid understanding of payment workflows, including authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks, and reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with message queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka, as well as caching layers such as Redis.
- Nice-to-have skills include knowledge of PCI DSS compliance, 3D Secure protocols, tokenization, and experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and monitoring tools like ELK stack.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust backend services for card payment processing, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Integrate seamlessly with various payment gateways and financial institutions to support a wide range of payment methods.
- Design and implement scalable, event-driven architectures capable of handling high transaction volumes efficiently.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, complemented by comprehensive unit and functional tests to ensure system reliability.
- Optimize database queries and data models to enhance performance for OLTP workloads using MySQL and MongoDB.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design system architectures, conduct code reviews, and make technical decisions that align with business goals.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements using tools such as the ELK stack for logging and observability.
- Participate actively in CI/CD pipeline enhancements, automation, and deployment processes to streamline releases.
- Ensure the security and compliance of payment data, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
