Back Shop Lead

About the role

The Building People, LLC seeks a Back Shop Lead to manage the fabrication and machine shop supporting facility and laboratory maintenance for the AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate (RX).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Back Shop operations, including tool control, equipment maintenance, and technician scheduling.
• Coordinate fabrication, machining, and repair work across skilled trades supporting RX facility and laboratory needs.
• Maintain accountability for shop tools, equipment, and materials.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience managing a Facilities Back Shop environment in a DoD facility.
• At least 5 years of Machine Shop experience.
• Ability to obtain a favorable NACI or Tier 1 background investigation and CAC.
• All positions require a background check after acceptance of our offer; the selected candidate may begin employment before the background check is finalized, but continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
• The position may require special credentialing, clearance, and access as a condition of employment; failure to obtain government/client sponsorship may result in termination.

Skills

• Forklift and/or scissor lift operator certification (preferred).
