About the Role

Providing crew leadership by ensuring safety and operational standards are met. The Lead will inspire by demonstrating safe work practices, fast response, documenting and communicating ideas and resolutions.

  • Assist and fill in for the Production Supervisor, including running the crew when necessary.
  • Review priorities and projects with the Production Supervisor and advise plant employees on tasks.
  • Assist with changeovers and determine if schedule adjustments or permits are needed for equipment overhaul, repair, or readjustments.
  • Check machines, analyze mechanical or operational troubles, and take corrective action to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Operate, repair, clean, and lubricate equipment; clear jams; check strapping and related materials.
  • Assist with Preventative Maintenance (PM) completion (daily, weekly, monthly) and write/perform maintenance work orders.
  • Read schematics, prints, and exploded views of machinery; interpret procedural manuals, manufacturer’s guides, and operation instructions.
  • Partner with the Production Supervisor for QAS review, HFI containment, and structured problem-solving.
  • Assist line employees and maintainers with changeovers, breaks, and equipment breakdowns.
  • Check, test, and measure product for quality specifications; examine for visual defects.
  • Analyze spoilage causes, take corrective action, and record production delays.
  • Conduct 10k audits as needed and notify the supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions or poor-quality materials.
  • Operate equipment and assist production as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentorship and coaching.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; maintainer experience preferred.
  • Able to perform fine manipulations with hands.
  • Ability to navigate computer-based programs.
  • Familiar with PPE, material safety data sheets, and proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and night shifts.
  • Willingness to participate in continued professional development.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Physical Demands

  • Able to stand for durations in excess of 8 hours.
  • Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.
  • Able to climb stairs frequently.

Schedule

Leads will report at least 15 minutes before shift start to assist with shift handoff and crew setup for the day.
