About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Back End Engineer to join our Trading team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our trading infrastructure, focusing on building scalable, low-latency trading systems and data pipelines. The successful candidate will act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers, and driving the development of impactful solutions that support our rapid growth phase. This position offers the flexibility of remote work for candidates based in Chicago, IL or New York, NY, with some travel expected to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed systems, data engineering, and trading technology, with a passion for solving complex problems and delivering high-performance applications.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in building precise and scalable distributed systems using best practices.
• 2+ years of recent experience developing low-latency trading systems at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Proficiency with modern tech stacks such as Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS, Postgres, and Kubernetes.
• Strong ownership mentality with pride in delivering high-quality work.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging in intentional dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical leader by mentoring team members and promoting engineering best practices.
• Analyze complex problems across multiple user personas and workflows, developing scalable solutions.
• Build, enhance, and maintain scalable services and user-facing web applications.
• Design and develop customer-centric, high-performance applications and features.
• Develop and manage scalable data pipelines and ELT processes to support trading and data analysis needs.
• Implement new data integrations based on established requirements, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Perform data analysis to identify and resolve data issues, optimizing data quality and system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our systems and processes.
