About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
  • Install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
  • Use switching and tagging procedures, grounding, and induced voltage techniques on energized and de-energized lines.
  • Climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners, pullers, and other overhead line equipment.
  • Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.
  • Perform live-line work using approved glove and hot-stick techniques on energized lines, including troubleshooting and fault locating.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) use and understanding of insulated protective covers to isolate differences of potential.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of recent overhead line experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of switching and tagging procedures, grounding, and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines.
  • Ability to climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment.
  • Experience operating and maintaining bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners, pullers, and other overhead line equipment.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to work in various environmental conditions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of insulated protective covers to isolate differences of potential.

Skills

  • Proficiency in climbing and working at heights.
  • Knowledge of live-line work techniques and safety protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and locate faults on energized lines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
