About the Role

Serve as a B-2 Operational Test Pilot in the 72d Test and Evaluation Squadron (72 TES), Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster, MO. In this role, you are a combat-focused innovator at the intersection of advanced technology and real-world execution. Operating at the apex of global strike, you will fly live-fly campaigns to validate next-gen weapons, revolutionary software, and Open Mission Systems. You’ll collaborate with engineers and data scientists to evaluate combat effectiveness against peer threats, shape program-office designs, and author the tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to evaluate combat effectiveness against peer threats.
  • Shape program-office designs and author operational tactics.
  • Apply mastery of USAF aircraft operations, aircrew training, standardization, evaluation, and flight test management.
  • Utilize knowledge of high-performance bomber aircraft, including operation, characteristics, and limitations of aircraft simulators.
  • Demonstrate expertise in advanced instrument techniques, aerobatic maneuvers, tactical formation flying, high-speed flight, aerial refueling, and range missions with ordnance.
  • Apply knowledge of system engineering to achieve and preserve operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness (OSS&E).
  • Understand and navigate the mission, roles, and organizational structure of the DoD and related acquisition, development, test, and sustainment processes.
  • Evaluate advancements in technology and policy affecting systems development, production, sustainment, test, and support.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. civilian.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position.
  • Rated officer experience is critical to the success of the mission.
  • Must possess and maintain a FAA Medical Certificate Second Class or better.
  • Must pass an aviation class 2 physical examination.
  • Must meet and maintain knowledge and skill levels as an Instructor Pilot (IP) and/or Evaluator Pilot.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements

Flight logs are mandatory for verification.

  • 1750 Total Flight Hours
  • 1150 Pilot-In-Command Hours
  • 75 Night Flying Hours
  • 75 Flight Hours of Instrument Time (at least 10 hours must be in actual instrument conditions)
  • 500 Instructor Hours
  • 100 Hours Flying Time in the last 12 months

Mandatory Documents

  • Flight Logs
  • FAA Certifications (front/back)
  • DD 214 (Member 4) or In Lieu of DD 214 Letter
  • FAA Medical Certificate Class II or better

Qualifications

  • Mastery of USAF aircraft operations, aircrew training, standardization and evaluation, aerospace resource management, aircrew life support, and aircraft safety.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multi-disciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, and standards related to system engineering and OSS&E.
  • Knowledge of DoD planning, programming, budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
  • Skill in evaluating state-of-the-art advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems development.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, sustainment, test, and support of systems, sub-systems, or equipment.

Desired Experience

  • Current or former B-2 instructor pilot.
  • Completion of a military Test Pilot School (TPS) or Weapons School is highly advantageous.

Pay

Salary Range: $145,000 - $188,000

Recruitment and relocation incentives may be available.

Schedule

This is a full-time position. Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period.
