Azure Platform Lead - Engineering Manager
About the role
We are seeking an Azure Platform Lead to oversee a team of engineers supporting a large-scale enterprise Azure environment within DHS CISA. This role is responsible for driving team performance, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering cloud capabilities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop a team supporting Azure infrastructure, AVD, and platform services
- Establish and maintain consistent team cadence, including 1:1s, performance management, and clear prioritization
- Drive accountability across the team, including senior engineers, ensuring strong ownership and collaboration
- Ensure operational processes are followed consistently, with a focus on risk management and reliability
- Own onboarding, transitions, and workload distribution across the team
- Provide clear and proactive communication to leadership on team status, risks, and priorities
- Partner across engineering, security, and network teams to ensure aligned execution
- Translate architectural direction into actionable plans with clear ownership and follow-through
- Delegate technical execution appropriately while maintaining visibility into delivery
Environment & Technologies
You will lead teams working across Microsoft Azure platform services and infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, and Azure administration and platform operations, as well as Nerdio for AVD management and optimization.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include the ability to attain DHS EOD BA with 10 years of experience, AA with 12 years, MA with 7 years, or 16 years of relevant experience, as well as 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments, including cloud and infrastructure, and 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams in large enterprise environments. Desired experience includes managing teams supporting Azure, AVD, and Infrastructure as Code environments, leading teams through onboarding, transitions, and organizational change, and operating in environments with high visibility, compliance requirements, and structured processes.

Pay
The proposed salary range for this position is $98,500-$206,800, which can be influenced by factors such as geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
