Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bilingual (English & French) Driver Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for training drivers in safe and efficient driving practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive training sessions for drivers on safe driving techniques, vehicle operation, and company policies.
- Evaluate driver performance through observation and assessments to ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Conduct routine audits of safety practices and documentation.
- Incident/Accident investigation and prevention process. Demonstrates ability to uncover true root causes of incidents through a prescribed Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis process such as 5Y, or other similar methodology.
- Able to review and mentor drivers regarding log reports to ensure proper completion to minimize careless errors as required.
- Follow up and take necessary actions for various compliance infractions (HOS, Speed, CVSA inspections etc).
- Perform road tests and conduct On-Road Training rides.
- Prepare and facilitate Onboarding and safety training programs (TDG, Road Evaluations, SOPs, Defensive Driving, Winter Driving, National Safety Code, Provincial/Federal Legislation, etc.) and ensures their effective implementation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices to effectively train drivers.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, providing constructive feedback and support throughout the training process.
- Aid in the development of training materials and programs to enhance driver education.
- Collaborate with management to identify areas for improvement in driver performance and training methods.
- Participate in workplace inspections and coaching conversations.
- Assume other tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid commercial driver's license (Class AZ or equivalent) as well as a current Driver Trainer Certificate.
- LCLV experience would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to promoting safety and compliance within the organization.
- Previous experience as a trainer or mentor is an asset but not required.
