About the role
The position is an Adjunct Instructor position in the Department of Philosophy at Portland State University. The courses typically taught by our Adjunct pool are 300-level Philosophy courses that are also part of University Studies Junior Clusters.
Responsibilities
- Teach 300-level Philosophy courses as assigned.
- Develop and maintain course materials consistent with department standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Assist with departmental administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution and prior college-level teaching experience.
- PhD in Philosophy from an accredited institution preferred.
- Lives in Oregon or SW Washington.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with online teaching platforms.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to teach a variety of Philosophy courses.
- Experience with educational technology.

Adjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour according to the PSUFA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
