AY 26-27 Adjunct Faculty Pool - Comics Studies
About the role
The Comics Studies Program is looking for qualified instructors to teach a variety of courses, including the specialties of Writing, Publishing, and Editing Comics, as well as other special topics TBA. Courses could include: WR 398 Writing Comics, ENG 496 Comics Theory, ENG 497 Comics History, and ENG 399: Special Topics in Comics, and others.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses related to comics studies, including Writing, Publishing, and Editing Comics, as well as other special topics TBA.
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures and assignments that align with the course objectives.
- Assess student learning through various methods such as quizzes, exams, and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other relevant data.
- Participate in department meetings and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning.
Requirements
- Professional and/or academic experience in the particular area/aspect of comics suitable to the course content.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Applicant must reside in Oregon or SW Washington.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Prior college-level teaching experience.

Compensation
Adjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour per the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement which can be found at https://www.pdx.edu/academic-affairs/academic-unions#psuf.
