Axle Surgeon Apprentice- Technician

Responsibilities

  • Train towards on-road axle surgeon repairs, including spindle replacement, spider plate replacement, and king pin sleeving.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisors/dispatchers immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure that vehicles are kept clean. Notify service advisors/dispatchers immediately of anything that has changed the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Report any safety issues immediately to management.

Qualifications

  • Stick welding experience REQUIRED.
  • Technician experience preferred but not required.
  • On-the-job training as well as in-shop trailer repair development training when schedule requires it.
  • Valid driver's license with no accidents or traffic violations in the last 5 years.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO: bend-reach-stoop, lift 50 lbs, sit/drive for extended periods.

Schedule

  • Monday- Friday 7am-4pm
  • Evenings and Saturdays as needed
