About The Role

Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd., is seeking a Director/AVP Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter to join our International Reinsurance Division in the Warren, New Jersey office. This role is ideal for someone with a strong property or casualty treaty reinsurance underwriting background looking to contribute to the profitable growth of a highly rated global reinsurance leader.

You will underwrite and manage a diversified portfolio of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties for ceding companies in the Middle East and Africa. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and interpersonal skills, management experience, a global perspective, and enthusiasm for international travel. Fluency in French or Arabic is a plus.

This is a hybrid role based in Warren, NJ, requiring onsite presence 3 days a week. Alternative office locations include New York City and Philadelphia, with travel to Warren, NJ as needed. The role includes approximately 6 weeks of international travel per year to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage both excess of loss and proportional treaty accounts within defined underwriting authority, ensuring alignment with Everest’s risk appetite.
• Make sound underwriting decisions to achieve targeted profitability objectives.
• Identify and secure profitable new business opportunities in the Middle East and Africa region.
• Define and execute market and underwriting strategies.
• Manage and mentor junior team members.
• Utilize internal underwriting, pricing, and catastrophe modeling tools.
• Build and manage strong relationships with ceding companies and reinsurance brokers, providing exceptional service.
• Lead marketing trips to the Middle East and Africa; represent and promote Everest at client and broker meetings and industry conferences.
• Maintain an understanding of key markets in the Middle East and Africa, as well as current industry trends.
• Adhere to internal and external compliance guidelines and maintain proper file documentation.
• Collaborate with functional areas including corporate underwriting, actuarial, claims, accounting, and contract wording.
• Provide management support to the Head of Middle East and Africa Treaty.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a reinsurance treaty underwriter of non-life business lines.
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, risk management, or a related field (preferred).
• Very strong analytical and technical skills, including the ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiating skills.
• Fluency in French or Arabic (ideal but not required).
• Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Suite with advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to develop proficiency with company-specific electronic filing and processing systems.
• Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and high-intensity environment.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $177,000 - $215,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications, and work location.
