AVP, Sr. Claims Examiner

About the Role

The AVP, Senior Claims Examiner handles all aspects of claims notices and files related to professional liability and accompanying coverages, including claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis, and travel. This role manages outside defense and coverage counsel, supports marketing and loss prevention education, and assists various functional departments such as marketing, risk management, finance, and actuarial.

Responsibilities

• Adjust all aspects of claims and loss notices, including claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis, and coverage litigation.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and other claims-related travel as needed.
• Support marketing, risk management, finance, and actuarial departments, including related travel.
• Assist with or conduct large loss and reinsurance reporting.
• Maintain adjuster’s licenses in all states requiring licenses, including California.
• Provide product line oversight as needed.
• Assist with marketing and development of risk management materials.
• Actively engage in the company’s innovation culture and groups.
• Pursue continued and self-driven learning.

Qualifications

• BA or BS required; JD preferred but not required.
• 8 to 10 years of claims-related adjusting experience.
• Experience handling professional liability claims for architects/engineers, miscellaneous professional liability, or construction professionals (preferred but not required).
• 3 to 5 years of legal or law firm experience (preferred but not required).
• Adjuster’s licenses in all states requiring a license, plus California.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay

Base Salary Range: $132,000 – $189,000. Eligible to participate in an annual discretionary bonus. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
