Position Highlights & Requirements
- Reports to: AVP of Total Rewards reports to VP of Total Rewards
- Direct Reports: Director of Benefits, Manager of Compensation, and Executive Compensation Specialist
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field) preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) strongly preferred. CEBS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certifications preferred.
- Location: Hybrid Houston, Texas
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
- Seven (7)+ years of progressive total rewards experience with a strong emphasis on compensation; five (5)+ years of leadership experience in large, complex healthcare organizations.
- Demonstrated expertise in both executive compensation and broad-based compensation
- Experience with benefits strategy, design, and administration.
- Specific demonstrated expertise with self-insured health plans, 403(b) retirement plans, non-qualified retirement, pension plans, and voluntary benefits.
- Experience preparing materials for board-level committees and presenting to top senior executives on benefit programs.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Principal Accountabilities
- Advance Memorial Hermann’s strategic goal to enable the entire health system to create more value for patients and populations.
- Partner with the VP of Total Rewards to develop and execute a comprehensive total rewards strategy with a strong emphasis on compensation excellence.
- Lead design and administration of compensation programs, including base pay, incentives, and executive compensation (excluding physician compensation).
- Oversee benefits strategy and administration, including health, welfare, retirement (pension and 403(b)), and wellness programs.
- Lead benefits administration, including vendor management, plan governance, compliance, and employee experience.
- Prepare Board-level materials and executive reports; present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support and contribute to the Benefits and Retirement Committees with frequent interaction with Executive Leadership.
- Lead benchmarking for compensation and benefits, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Drive operational excellence, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing total rewards team.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
