AVP Cybersecurity

For our client, we are seeking a AVP Cybersecurity to join the team of a leader in the Hospitals & Medical Centers space. This leader will own the advancement of application security and DevSecOps capabilities across the organization. The role is highly hands-on, blending technical depth with team leadership to strengthen secure software delivery, reduce vulnerability risk, and embed security earlier in the development lifecycle. You will partner closely with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to improve code quality, tool integration, and secure design practices in a healthcare environment. You will also mentor security professionals, guide technical reviews, and help shape policies and training that support scalable, practical security execution. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $171,750 – $257,700 annually Responsibilities Lead the development and continuous improvement of the application security and DevSecOps program Engage directly in code reviews and security assessments with team members Mentor and develop application security engineers and security advocates Design and integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with engineering teams Manage the application vulnerability program, including risk prioritization and escalation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security into product design phases Develop security policies and train engineering staff on secure coding practices Qualifications 8+ years of experience in application security or DevSecOps, with hands-on engineering experience 3+ years in a leadership role, with the ability to mentor while remaining technical Familiarity with security frameworks such as OWASP ASVS and NIST SSDF Hands-on experience with security tools such as SAST, DAST, and SCA, plus the ability to troubleshoot them Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go for code review and automation Benefits Remote work flexibility with required travel based on business needs Opportunities for professional development and mentoring in a collaborative environment Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
