Drive and support company strategy by managing actuarial expertise in coordination with other leaders to ensure actuarial soundness and improve profitability across CareSource’s lines of business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of CareSource’s actuarial functions, including pricing, forecasting, month-end close activities, and performance monitoring and explanations.
- Use actuarial knowledge and tools to enhance profitability of the business area(s) under oversight.
- Assure coordination, relevance, and performance of actuarial functions to meet CareSource business needs.
- Manage necessary improvements and changes to models, reports, and processes to align with evolving business needs.
- Drive continual improvement of actuarial processes to support the business.
- Represent Actuarial Services and CareSource in communications, presentations, and meetings with regulators, owners, and external parties on actuarial matters.
- Align Actuarial Services with the Finance Department to enhance business intelligence and understanding of company financials for executive leadership.
- Support decision-making and strategy regarding actuarial inputs to monthly financial reporting, such as claim reserves/accruals, variance analysis, and contributions to executive reports.
- Implement and maintain actuarial processes and controls consistent with best practices to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Perform additional job duties as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the Actuarial Industry, with at least five (5) years of management experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare actuarial functions, including Medicaid, Commercial, and/or Medicare Advantage business; rate negotiations; process/model/report design; and state/federal reporting requirements.
- Managed care and state/federal government program experience preferred.
- Experience interacting with state or federal regulators, CMS, or other external regulatory/auditing entities preferred.
- Experience communicating and presenting to internal senior leaders.

Qualifications
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA or FSA) required.
- Must maintain memberships in the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries.
Pay
$150,000 - $300,000. Salary is determined by a combination of education, training, experience, scope and complexity of the role, discretion and latitude required, and external/internal data. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
