Avionics Integration Engineer, F-15

Astrion is seeking qualified candidates for an upcoming Avionics Integration Engineer position supporting the F-15 program at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge and experience in avionics engineering or a related technical/professional field.
• Ability to perform tasks independently and oversee junior and journeyman contractor personnel.
• Comprehensive understanding of standards, procedures, and practices in avionics engineering.
• Experience working on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of defense programs.

Education: ABET-accredited BS or MS in engineering with one of the following:

• BS and 20 years of experience, or
• MS and 10 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, verification (including ICD review), sustainment, Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A), T&E, and airworthiness certification.
• Understanding of radar theory, design, development, and implementation.
• Working knowledge of ITAR and foreign disclosure processes.
• Familiarity with Congressional notification and RIP/RIS approval processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update program documentation for avionics engineering requirements.
• Assist the Government in drafting and developing systems/subsystem specifications and engineering documents for milestone reviews.
• Support the development and testing of program system hardware and software, including integration into the system architecture.
• Attend technical reviews and provide advice on hardware/software installation.
• Review system-specific test plans and participate in system, subsystem, and component testing.
• Conduct performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, and risk assessments, as well as scheduling trade-off studies.
• Support hardware/software development and related ground/flight test activities, including hardware-in-the-loop, subsystem integration labs, developmental T&E, and initial operational T&E.
• Perform systems analyses, including avionics system design feasibility, capacity analysis, alternative solutions, architecture trade-offs, and operations concept development.
• Analyze avionics and subsystems, such as system threat analysis, laser systems, computer systems, avionics interfaces, and multiplex data bus communications.
• Identify potential issues and areas of improvement for Government consideration.
• Accomplish data processing tasks, including centroiding, tracker, timing issues, data loading, and software interfaces to combat or automation systems.
• Conduct MS&A of radar, targets, and clutter/weather; develop test plans, witness tests, and write test reports for qualification, operational field, and factory system-level testing.
• Support Aircraft Information Management Systems (AIMS) requirements, testing, certification, and spectrum management.
• Define requirements, complete CNS/ATM compliance matrices, and support testing/certification of aircraft and supporting systems using knowledge of Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management policies.
• Perform technical activities related to radar waveforms, signal/data processing, phased array antennas, adaptive array processing, digital beam forming, transmitter technologies, and advanced Analog-to-Digital (A/D) technology.
• Apply expertise in digital signal processing, including MTI, pulse Doppler, monopulse, imaging, adaptive techniques, CFARs, clutter maps, and timing issues.
• Support EW engineering tasks related to aeronautical vehicle systems, software, and avionics capabilities.
• Provide Foreign Military Sales (FMS) expertise for F-15 programs, including planning, execution, delivery, sustainment, and program closure in accordance with DoD policies.
• Assist with security assistance issues, ensuring compliance with LOR, LOA, the Foreign Assistance Act, AECA, ITAR, and other relevant legislation.
• Support P&A and LOA, SOO/SOW development, proposal reviews, and acquisition document/export license reviews.
• Assist with LOA implementation and execution per AECA, Security Assistance Management Manual, and DSCA Manual 5105.38-M.
• Provide technical expertise to SAPMs, line managers, and functional teams across all phases of the acquisition process.
• Ensure requirements are identified for new acquisitions or modifications through sustainment and disposal.
• Collaborate with Government personnel, outside agencies, and contractors to support the program.
• Prepare technical material for internal and external briefings, presentations, documents, and reports.
