Avionics/Electronics Technician II

About the role

The Avionics/Electronic Bench Technician II supports operations at Naval Air Station in New Orleans, LA. This position involves diagnosing and repairing Avionic Test Equipment, observing and training on less complex issues, and performing various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and repairs Avionic Test Equipment
• Train under higher grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex issues
• Solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications
• Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends and analyze equipment requirements
• Maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and perform routine inspections of Avionic Test Equipment
• Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components
• Remove, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, sandblast, and paint malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Avionic Test Equipment
• Inspect, test, and operate Test Equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
• Stencil and mark Avionic Test Equipment in accordance with technical publications
• Store, handle, label, use, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times
• Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts
• Review, analyze, and evaluate test results and prepare reports on findings and recommendations

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years' aviation experience in electronics maintenance/repair, or a military equivalent of three (3) years of hands-on experience
• High School diploma or GED
• Graduate from a two (2) year Electronics Technician resident course at an accredited institute
• Able to read and understand aviation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, to include component identification and function
• Able to obtain a Security Clearance for issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC)
• Able to speak, read, and understand English
• Secret Clearance required, must be able to obtain and maintain a secret US government clearance
• US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance
