AVID Teacher
Job Description
The AVID Teacher is responsible for implementing AVID curriculum in high school classrooms, supporting students through rigorous coursework, and fostering a college-going culture.
- Teach AVID elective classes and support students in their academic journey.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate AVID strategies into core subject areas.
- Support students in developing organizational skills, study habits, and critical thinking skills.
- Work closely with students to set and achieve personal goals.
- Provide individualized instruction and intervention to students as needed.
About the Role
This position is part of the AVID program, which aims to close the achievement gap by providing academic support and resources to students in underrepresented groups.
Responsibilities
- Implement AVID curriculum and strategies in daily teaching practices.
- Conduct weekly AVID meetings with students to discuss academic progress and goals.
- Assist students in preparing for standardized tests and college applications.
- Participate in professional development opportunities related to AVID and education.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, strong commitment to AVID principles, and a passion for working with diverse student populations.
