Aviation Simulation Systems Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a full time Aviation Simulation Systems Engineer for our Aviation Systems team at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

Essential Functions

• Develops improvements to data packages delivered to simulator companies
• Provides troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause within a simulated system environment
• Supports troubleshooting of issues reported by simulation companies
• Identifies improvements and modifies tools for use in system simulation solutions
• Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
• Maintains tracking of simulator system integration issues and related project management skills to coordinate solutions across engineering teams

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another technical field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Systems Integration, System Safety, System Requirements
• Demonstrated problem solving ability

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in an Engineering field
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Relevant experience and/or training in an applicable high-level software programming language
• 5+ years of relevant experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description
• Pilot’s License, and/or demonstrated knowledge of Garmin’s aviation product lines and customer needs are also desirable skills
• Prior experience with simulator design or qualification
