About the role

The Lead Information Technology Systems Specialist supervises and participates in administrative and technical research studies and the evaluation, development, use, and/or maintenance of technical system hardware/software including operating systems, executive programs, transaction processors, data base management systems. The incumbent participates on design review boards; reviews systems designs to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures; advises other personnel on technical software/hardware matters; assists the Administrator in determining the need and scope of study for Technical Service Requests (TSR's); and designs and implements TSR projects, or assigns projects to appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Works with considerable freedom in technical support areas under the general supervision of a technical services administrator or technical systems supervisor, and performance is evaluated on the basis of results achieved.
  • Serves as the technical section head for the Systems and Engineering Services team with the Technology Division for the Aviation Department.
  • Manages large-scale backend systems supporting critical systems and applications for the Aviation Department.
  • Manages security remediations on backend systems such as vulnerability scan remediation, system hardening, applying security patches and updates, and PCI compliance.
  • Serves as the LAN Administration, as well as second and third level technical support for other technology teams.
  • Serves as a key member of the Technology Division leadership team and plays an integral role in both strategic and operational planning.
  • Collaborates with division leadership to shape long term technology strategies, align operational initiatives with organizational goals, and ensure the delivery of high impact solutions that support Aviation's mission and business needs.
  • Engages and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders on projects and identifies opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and innovative technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience developing, evaluating, using, and maintaining technical system hardware and software.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math or a related field.
  • Three years of experience with first-level supervisory experience of technical staff supporting servers and storage hardware and software.
  • Supporting operating systems (Microsoft, Oracle, RedHat Linux) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Oracle).
  • Assisting in the coordination of technical systems planning and budgeting.
  • Budget management, planning and acquisition of equipment and software, including cost/benefit and ROI analysis.
  • Overseeing procurement of technology solutions.
  • Technology contract management and vendor relationships.
  • Two years of experience managing technical staff.
  • Experience with inventory and asset management.
  • Managing multiple vendors providing hardware, software, and maintenance.
  • Managing and scheduling routine, periodic maintenance and patching activities.

Pay

Pay Range: $115,460.80 to $154,731.20 annually. Hiring Range: $115,460.80 to $147,368.00 annually.
