About the role
The Aviation Project Specialist 1 position is located within the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Aeronautics Division, specifically at 7335 Centennial Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209 (John C. Tune Airport).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development and update of Capital Improvements Plans (CIPs) for each airport annually.
- Identify aviation infrastructure issues for maintenance, repair, safety, environmental, and operational needs.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and project teams to ensure project continuity.
- Plan, develop, assemble, and/or review aviation transportation infrastructure plans using CADD computer technology and PDF applications.
- Understand and apply FAA and TDOT Aeronautics Division project selection scoring processes and techniques, procedures, and design criteria.
- Develop and implement detailed specifications for aviation projects in accordance with technical manuals.
- Review and approve project bid tabulations and federal contracting requirements such as DBE/diversity, labor standards, and Buy American Preference or Build America, Buy America (BABA).
- Ensure invoices are reviewed and processed according to granting requirements.
- Utilize various software platforms to maintain aviation transportation systems and assist with design work as needed.
- Assist with implementing proactive solutions for engineering concerns to meet project needs.
- Understand and apply criteria and key components of technical disciplines within a matrix organization to ensure project success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Engineering, Construction Project Management, or Concrete Industry Management.
- No experience required.
Benefits
TDOT provides vehicles for work-related travel and/or schedules flights to airports as needed. Equipment such as laptops is provided.
Pay
Estimates range from $93,346 to $108,630 per year.
Schedule
Full-time work as a Hybrid Work Type. Minimum of 3 days in office with 2 remote (Alternative Work Station) days. Some weeks may require more days in office/field for site visits and meetings. Rarely overnight stays are needed.
