About the role
The primary purpose of the Airframe and Powerplant Instructor is to provide quality instruction to students at Madisonville Community College.
Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging and informative lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions for A&P students, covering a wide range of topics related to airframe and powerplant systems.
- Develop and deliver curriculum content that aligns with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the evolving needs of the aerospace industry.
- Foster an interactive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students, supporting their academic and professional development.
- Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments, and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their growth.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff members to enhance instructional materials, update course content, and develop innovative teaching methodologies.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in aircraft technology, maintenance practices, and regulatory changes to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant.
- Support student recruitment efforts by participating in informational sessions, open houses, and industry events.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
Requirements
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate with a minimum of 3-years’ experience performing maintenance on General Aviation aircraft and/or powerplants.
- Must have a strong understanding of current airframe and powerplant systems, maintenance practices, and safety protocols.
- Thorough working knowledge of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Previous experience as an instructor or mentor in an academic or industry setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with instructional technology, learning management systems, and computer-based training tools is an advantage.
- Proficiency with standard instructional tools such as MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other digital teaching resources.
