Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, lays out, fabricates, assembles, removes, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and components.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing metallic and non-metallic products.
  • Selects gauge and type of metallic and non-metallic material according to specifications.
  • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material using scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers.
  • Applies knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns or parts or using templates.
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, routers, and saws to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
  • Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form, using hand tools.
  • Trims, files, grinds, deburr, buffs, and smooths surfaces, using hand and portable power tools.
  • Welds, sells, bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks or bonds component parts to assemblies, using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Document all discrepancies, maintenance performed, incomplete maintenance and all after-maintenance requirements on appropriate forms (work orders, tags, records, etc.).
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Utilize the HS&E Manual and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), when appropriate (gloves, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Prior to accomplishing a maintenance task, ensure that all calibrated special tools required to perform the job have a valid inspection sticker.
  • Utilize the 145 Repair Station/Quality Control Manual.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making.
  • Proficient in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and repair.
  • Thorough knowledge of the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and other pertinent information.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred but not required: FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Two to four years of related work experience.
