Aviation High Voltage Electrical Technician I
Responsibilities
Includes, but is not limited to, supervising the maintenance and repairs of electrical systems along with subordinate workers and contractors; requiring a journeyman level of high-voltage electrical skills with knowledge to repair, maintain, and/or replace electrical equipment and apparatus rated up to, including 33,000 volts; maintaining written records, and preparing and submitting reports related to property inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment inspections; and being designated “Emergency Essential” in the event of airport emergencies, weather emergencies, or irregularities.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Experience: Three years of experience working with high-voltage (600 volts and up) service switch gear and control wiring or large (30 horsepower or more) motors, compressors, and motor circuitry. One year of this experience must have been in a commercial or industrial setting.
Notes
Additional work experience performing high voltage electrical work as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. A certificate from a vocational-technical school or community college with a major in the electrical trade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience. Candidates may substitute equivalent U.S. Armed Forces military service experience for civilian experience cited above.
