About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Aviation Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering and a proven track record of working on aviation-related projects. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with experience in the planning, design, and construction management of airport infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support the design and development of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, access roads, and stormwater systems.
- Prepare engineering reports, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Ensure projects comply with FAA regulations, local permitting requirements, and industry standards.
- Cook up coordination with clients, contractors, airport authorities, and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage or assist in construction administration, including site inspections, submittal reviews, and responding to RFIs.
- Support proposal development and participate in business development efforts as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Illinois.
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 3 years focused on aviation-related projects.
- Working knowledge of FAA design standards and familiarity with airport planning and design guidelines.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Open Roads.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong project management, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings.
Pay
This position offers a salary range of $90,000–$120,000 per year, along with comprehensive health benefits, PTO, and holiday pay. The listed salary range reflects the potential compensation for this role. Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
