About the role
The Construction Manager will support delivery of airside and landside projects, working under the direction of a Senior Construction Manager or Project Manager, while coordinating contractors, inspectors, airport operations, and tenants to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily on-site construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Assist with coordination of contractors, inspectors, and airport operations in an active terminal/airfield environment.
- Verify work completion, inspections, and compliance with approved submittals, RFIs, and change directives.
- Support Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), phasing plans, and operational coordination with airport stakeholders.
- Support construction schedules, milestones, and critical path activities.
- Support cost tracking, pay applications, and basic change management activities under the direction of the Project Manager.
- Identify early risks or conflicts and escalate issues with recommended mitigation strategies.
- Prepare routine progress reports, field observations, and documentation for internal and client use.
- Participate in contractor meetings, coordination meetings, and safety briefings.
- Aid in stakeholder communication between construction teams, designers, inspectors, and airport operations.
- Maintain professional working relationships that support collaboration and schedule certainty.
- Enforce jobsite safety programs and airport safety and security requirements.
- Afford quality inspections and documentation to ensure compliance with Port of Seattle standards and project requirements.
- Follow established policies, procedures, and labor compliance requirements as applicable.
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of construction management or field engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Aviation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting construction projects in aviation, transportation, or complex vertical construction environments strongly preferred.
- Exposure to projects in active/occupied facilities is a plus.
- Working knowledge of construction means and methods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work on-site and coordinate in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at large commercial airports (SEA, SFO, LAX, etc.).
- Familiarity with program or owner-side construction management.
- Exposure to change management, RFIs, and pay applications.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, PMP (in progress), or LEED are a plus but not required.
