About the role

At RS&H, we design more than airports — we create environments that connect people, communities, and experiences. Our Aviation Buildings team is growing, and we’re looking for a talented Aviation Architect / Project Manager to join our Charlotte office and support exciting aviation projects with a focus on work at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of aviation and transportation-related projects
  • Work closely with airport clients and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative architectural solutions
  • Help manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and coordination efforts
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Coverage with consultants and internal teams to support successful project delivery from concept through construction
  • Mentor junior architects and technical staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Conduct quality reviews, field observations, and construction coordination activities
  • Support project pursuits, presentations, and client engagement efforts
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while building strong client relationships
  • Oversee project progress and proactively resolve challenges to maintain alignment with project goals, schedules, and budgets
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure integrated, high-quality project solutions
  • Represent RS&H at industry events, conferences, and client meetings

Requirements

  • Registered Architect in good standing
  • 7+ years of architectural design experience
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams
  • Strong architectural design and construction document development capabilities
  • Demonstrated Revit BIM production and coordination experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Prominent ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support client engagements, project activities, site visits, industry events, and professional development opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university
  • Previous project management experience
  • NCARB certification
  • Aviation, transportation, commercial, institutional, or large-scale project experience
  • Visualization and graphic capabilities including Adobe Suite, Photoshop, SketchUp, Enscape, Rhino, or Twinmotion
  • Experience with design-build project delivery
  • Experience with Bluebeam and related production tools
  • Cross-discipline coordination experience
