About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly technical AV Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong background in Crestron programming, DSP Programming, AV system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting. This position is ideal for an AV professional who can take ownership of complex audio visual systems from programming and configuration through testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and final client acceptance. The role requires regular travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and occasional travel to other project locations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for commercial audio visual systems and integrated technology solutions.
- Design, develop, modify, and troubleshoot Crestron control system programs for commercial AV environments.
- Program and configure Crestron control processors, touch panels, keypads, interfaces, and other control devices.
- Develop and modify control logic, user interfaces, device drivers, and system functionality based on project requirements.
- Create DSP files (Biamp, QSYS, Extron) for proper gain structure and overall signal flow based on project scope.
- Program, configure, integrate, test, and commission complete AV systems.
- Commission and troubleshoot audio systems, DSPs, video systems, displays, projectors, video distribution, conferencing systems, control systems, and related AV technologies.
- Configure and troubleshoot AV-over-IP and networked AV systems.
- Perform system testing and validation to ensure equipment and systems operate according to approved designs and specifications.
- Diagnose complex hardware, software, signal-flow, networking, and control-system issues and implement effective solutions.
- Review AV drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, signal-flow diagrams, programming requirements, and technical specifications.
- Work closely with engineering and project management teams to identify technical requirements and develop practical field solutions.
- Support AV technicians during installation, configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to field technicians and other AV personnel.
- Conduct on-site system commissioning, troubleshooting, optimization, and final system acceptance.
- Perform system tuning and optimization to ensure AV systems meet performance and client requirements.
- Assist with system integration between AV, control, conferencing, lighting, building automation, and other technology systems where applicable.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to troubleshoot equipment and resolve technical issues.
- Document programming changes, system configurations, testing results, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in client meetings, technical walkthroughs, system demonstrations, and end-user training.
- Support punch-list resolution and final project closeout.
- Travel throughout the five boroughs and to other project locations as required to support installations, service calls, commissioning, and technical projects.
- Respond to urgent technical issues and provide on-site support when required.
- Stay current with emerging AV technologies, programming platforms, standards, and manufacturer products.
- Perform additional technical and operational duties as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in commercial AV integration, programming, commissioning, or a related technical AV field.
- Strong hands-on experience with Crestron programming and control systems (Crestron Certified Programmer preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to independently program, troubleshoot, and commission integrated AV systems.
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow and system architecture.
- Experience with commercial audio systems, DSPs, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, displays, projectors, video distribution, conferencing systems, and control systems.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting networked AV and AV-over-IP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret AV drawings, schematics, block diagrams, signal-flow diagrams, equipment schedules, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts relevant to AV systems, including IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, switches, and network troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across both hardware and software.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to clients, technicians, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of technical quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common AV documentation and project management tools.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and to other project locations as needed.
We are currently only considering candidates who already live within commuting distance of our job sites. This role is not open to relocation and relocation assistance is not provided.
Pay
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
