Autonomy Engineer (Mid Career) - Millennium Space Systems

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead fault and autonomy requirements definition, verification, and validation
  • Define satellite/constellation states, modes, transitions, and other autonomous spacecraft behaviors
  • Contribute to - and in some cases own - architecture concepts, CONOPS, and technology trade-off analyses
  • Design and validate onboard fault detection, isolation, and responses and perform end-to-end validation of autonomy products and behaviors
  • Support on-console operations for on-orbit missions
  • Other duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and 5+ years experience in satellite design and/or operation
    • Advanced degrees may augment years of industry experience
    • Familiarity with one or more satellite subsystems and/or system-level analysis
    • Experience in the design, development, and verification of spacecraft fault detection, isolation, and response (FDIR)
    • Experience in the design, development, and verification of spacecraft autonomy software/configuration
    • Familiarity with satellite testing and/or on-orbit mission operations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 9+ years experience in satellite design and/or operation
    • Expertise with one or more satellite subsystems and/or system-level analysis
    • Experience designing satellite mission CONOPS, and deriving fault/autonomy requirements from those CONOPStechnical leadership experience with the ability to set direction of program work and create processes and standards to support the group
    • Experience with satellite testing and/or on-orbit mission operations
