About the role
Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of golf cars, utility and personal transportation vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support equipment. Our vehicles are found in environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports to planned communities, and theme parks to hunting preserves.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain vehicle localization architecture utilizing GNSS/RTK, LiDAR, visual localization, inertial navigation, and sensor fusion techniques.
- Develop behavior planning, motion planning, and vehicle control algorithms for autonomous navigation.
- Optimize computational performance, latency, and resource utilization on embedded computer platforms.
- Develop and maintain system requirements, interface specifications, and validation plans.
- Integrate autonomous hardware and software with vehicle electrical, controls, and sensor systems.
- Ensure the system performs reliably in real-world field conditions and support field testing and debugging.
- Work with cross-functional leads such as product strategy to help define features and product requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming language; ROS2 architecture required.
Skills
- Required: Autonomy stacks such as NAV2, sensor fusion (GPS, IMU, LiDAR, camera), experience with real-time embedded or robotic systems, hands-on debugging and tuning in real-world environments.
- Preferred: ROS2 (C++/Python) and robotics system integration, navigation algorithms (A*, DWA, Pure Pursuit, MPC), RTK GPS integration and localization techniques, vehicle control systems (CAN, drive-by-wire), simulation integration (Isaac Sim / Gazebo).
Travel
Approximately 20%-30% travel required to field test locations to support vehicle integration, autonomy tuning, performance validation, troubleshooting, and customer pilot deployments. Valid driver’s license required.
Primary location: US-Georgia-Augusta. Full-time, standard shift.
