About the Role
Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Floater to provide cross-coverage across the facility while delivering psychiatric care as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for assigned units and providing Staff On-Duty and Psych Backup coverage for the hospital as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Providing direct psychiatric care of patients on the assigned unit, including:
- Psychiatric assessment
- Patient and family interviews
- Psychopharmacologic management
- Planning and implementing psychiatric, medical, and behavioral rehabilitation treatment plans for patients
- Liaising with community mental health center staff in preparing and implementing patient discharge plans
- Supervising psychiatric nurse practitioner students
- Reviewing case formulations, treatment plans, documentation, and other activities of nursing students on the service
- Reviewing orders, emergency decisions, and treatment plans made by others (ODs) for patients on the service
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Licensed Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Autonomous Practice and Prescriptive Authority in Virginia
- Active DEA registration prior to the approval of clinical privilege(s)

Pay
Hiring range: $133,023 to $183,571.
