Automotive Technician Apprentice

About the role
This is a paid, 12-week apprenticeship program designed to help you build the skills needed to start a career as an automotive technician. If you meet the Manheim Apprentice Program objective completion standards, Manheim may offer you a full-time General Service Technician (GST) position with a $1,500 tool bonus and a defined career path. Participation in the Program is not a guarantee of continued or permanent employment. If you do not meet the completion standards by the end of the 12 weeks, you will be exited from the Program and will not be offered a full-time role.
Responsibilities
- Work with a mentor technician for coaching and guidance.
- Gain familiarity with auto maintenance concepts and practices.
- Perform basic auto maintenance tech duties, including oil and filter change, fuel filter change, transmission flush, and vehicle inspection.
- Learn to safely use tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Work as part of a team in a fast-paced shop.
- Perform other duties as assigned by mentor, supervisor, or manager.
Requirements
- 6+ months of related automotive experience.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Qualifications
You love working with your hands and your mind, are passionate about vehicle technology, and stay up to date on best practices in the auto world. You are focused and ready to work hard.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Ability to drive standard, automatic, and electric vehicles (preferred).
- Attended or currently attending tech/trade school or 2-year college in an automotive training program (preferred).
Pay
Hourly pay rate is in the range of $13.70 - $20.53/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as location and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation, including commission and/or an incentive program.
Benefits
- Minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Drug Testing
To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, possession, use, or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property, and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
