Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine scheduled maintenance and interim (unscheduled) maintenance.
  • Research and order repair parts as needed.
  • Complete requisitions for parts and service items.
  • Record data collection (labor time & vehicle service cost) and repairs to Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs identified during initial inspections and as per OEM guidelines.
  • Schedule all CESE/MHE equipment for service every 120 calendar days or sooner if mileage exceeds 5,000 miles.
  • Pick up vehicles requiring service from a designated location and return them to a Government-designated holding area after maintenance.
  • Operate government vehicles only for official duties and not for personal use.
  • Provide maintenance and repair to Government-owned CESE/MHE, with a maximum variation of 5% in numbers during the performance period.
  • Support supply and data entry for all equipment and vehicles.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair in three levels (A, B, C) based on mileage or time, including safety inspections and specific service items.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the government regarding CESE/MHE access, maintenance schedules, and use of Government furnished equipment (GFE).
  • Manage and supervise maintenance activities at Government-owned facilities, including workshops with up to 15 personnel.

Requirements

  • Capacity and technical skills to perform all levels of repair to various systems including suspension, steering, electrical, instrumentation, computer controls, driver controls, brakes, fuel delivery, carburetion and fuel injection, exhaust, and power train systems.
  • Ability to repair electric and manual window mechanisms, vehicle locks, seats, and incorporated electronics.
  • Capability to demount and mount tires of all sizes, balance wheel and tire assemblies, and perform tire repairs including plug insertion, patches, and replacements.
  • Experience in welding, metal forming, sheet metal work, minor body, and fender repairs.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain and repair GSE such as lawn mowers, pressure washers, tree and brush trimming equipment, generators, compressors, hydraulic attachments, and other small portable engine-powered tools.
  • Direct liaison with the government for CESE/MHE access, maintenance schedules, and use of GFE.
  • Availability during standard business hours to address issues and workflow.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Shop Supervisor at an OEM automotive dealership, commercial automotive mechanic, or equivalent military experience.
  • An Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in diesel engines and at least two (2) other Heavy Truck Categories such as Gas & Diesel Engines; Drive Train; Brakes; Suspension & Steering; Electrical; Heating & A/C, and Preventative Maintenance.
