Automotive Shop Helper/Entry Level Auto Tech

About the role

At Absolute Auto, Port Matilda, we are seeking an Entry-Level Automotive Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This position is perfect for recent automotive trade school graduates or those with a strong mechanical background eager to begin their careers in automotive repair.

Responsibilities

• Keep the shop clean and organized, handle inventory and stock orders.
• Floor cleaning and sweeping.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire services, fluid checks, battery replacements, and filter replacements.
• Assist technicians with more complex repairs such as brake jobs, suspension work, and engine diagnostics.
• Learn to use diagnostic tools and software to identify vehicle issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Complete multi-point vehicle inspections under supervision.
• Follow shop safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate clearly with team members and service staff.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of or current enrollment in an automotive technology program is a plus.
• A basic understanding of vehicle systems and mechanical principles is necessary.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential.
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
• The ability to use basic hand tools is needed.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are expected.
